Most Knowledgeable Doctor in the World

Today a lady told me something that really surprised me.  She'd been taking vitamins with the AREDS2 formula.  That is the standard of care for dry macular degeneration.  The Age Related Eye Disease Study about 20 years ago and the Age Related Eye Disease Study 2 published about 4 years ago both showed that the ingredients reduced the likelihood of dry macular going to advanced macular degeneration by 25% .She has macular degeneration and has been to 6 or 7 eye doctors in VA and NC. They all told her to discontinue the AREDS2 Vitamins.  One, who told her that he knows more about macular degeneration than anyone in the world, told her that the AREDS studies are "BS".

Both of these studies included several thousand people who all had macular degeneration.  Both were backed by the National Eye Institute.  Both are well accepted by eye doctors.  I don't understand the advice this nice lady was given.

If you have dry macular degeneration and are not taking an AREDS2 product you should be.  Do the research yourself.  Just Google AREDS2 or macular degeneration treatments.  Don't let the world's most knowledgeable doctor talk you out of doing what's best for your eyes and vision.
