The Purpose of Talking

Today someone responded to one of my YouTube videos with the following question:

"What is the purpose of talking?"  He was asking why I always speak by phone with people before making them an appointment for a low vision evaluation.  Here's my reply:

Thanks for your question.  I'm glad you asked.  I always speak with people who request my help before scheduling an appointment.  That gives me the opportunity to get an understanding of their remaining vision, their vision loss and how it effects their daily life.  I'll ask them what specific activities are most troublesome to them that they would like my help with.  With that information I'm able to tell them if i will be able to help.  I only schedule people who I think I'll be able to help.  I don't schedule everyone who calls because I want to be able to help them.  I don't want to take someone's time and money and then have to tell them that I won't be able to help them accomplish their goals.
