Just Google 'Low Vision".

I often receive calls from people in other states or even other countries asking for help with their low vision.  People who are losing their independence because of impaired vision caused by macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, Stargardt disease or other conditions want help.  Of course, I am always happy to help if I can.

Sometimes the callers are a long distance from Virginia where I practice.  If I know of a low vision optometrist close to them I help them connect with that doctor.  When I don’t have a colleague who’s convenient I always recommend that they try to locate someone closer who can help by Googling “Low Vision”.

Most low vision doctors have websites that explain their services.  Many are happy to speak with patients before scheduling the appointment.

Of course, I appreciate the calls that I receive asking for help.  Some of them come from a great distance and by Googling “Low Vision”  they may find that help is much closer than they realized.
