Bioptic Telescopic Lens driver's license

Many patients come to me asking for help so they can continue driving.  The VA DMV requires that they use their bioptic telescopic glasses for 60 days, then return to me. I can certify that they still meet the vision requirements.  Then they must pass a driving test  while wearing the bioptics.
One man returned to me  Oct 8 for the vision certification.  I faxed the forms to DMVs medical office the next day.  They sent him a letter on October 29 with a phone number to schedule the driving test.  Yesterday he called  and said that he'd  been unable to get through to that number.  He'd called many times.  His license expires in a few days. Could I help him?
I've always had a good relationship with  the DMV medical office.  I called their direct number and spoke with Hope.  She was very helpful and gave me another number for the man to call.  He was very appreciative when I gave him the number.
A couple hours later I received this text from my patient.
"Wow...you get results!!!  I left a message...they called back in less than 10 minutes.  I go to the Winchester DMV at 9am this Wednesday and take the test.  Thank you very much."
I'm glad I was able to help and I appreciate the quick response from the DMV.
