Age-Related Macular Degeneration Not Associated With Dementia Or Alzheimers

HealthDay   (11/16, Preidt) reported that, according to a study published online Nov. 14 in JAMA Ophthalmology, there appears to be no association “between the common eye condition known as  age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and either dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.” Researchers arrived at that conclusion after studying about 66,000 people with AMD, “more than 168,000 patients with Alzheimer’s or other dementia, and more than 7.7 million people in a comparison group.”
