Back on the Road

Yesterday I had an enthusiastic call from Wally Lawson, a low vision patient of mine.  Wally has his driver's license back.  A few months ago I prescribed bioptic telescopic glasses for Wally.  He'd lost his license because he can no longer pass the vision requirements of the DMV.  With the bioptics he meets the DMV requirements for a special limited license.  Wally told me that all he wanted to do was drive within 10 miles of his home.  Everything he needs to do is within 10 miles.

The DMV sent two examiners to Wally's home to test him.  They took him out in the car for the driving test and he did well.  They told him that he passed and would receive a license allowing him to drive within 25 miles of his home.  The special license requires him to wear the bioptic glasses and drive during daylight.

Wally is very happy to be back on the road.  He has got his independence back.

My job is to help people like Wally who have lost their independence because of a vision loss.  By prescribing telescopic or microscopic glasses I help them get back to driving, reading and other activities that are important to them.  If you have lost some vision from macular degeneration or other eye disease give me a call.  There is no charge for the telephone consultation.  I will question you about your remaining vision and your goals.  I'll tell you if low vision glasses will help and will schedule a low vision evaluation only if I am quite certain that I can help you.  Call me at 1 866 321-2030
