"I want to shop around"

About three weeks ago I prescribed bioptic telescopic glasses for a nice lady.  Her husband requested a copy of the prescription so they could shop around.  I told him that I was happy to give them the RX but doubted that they would find an optical that would fill it.  Very few doctors provide low vision care and therefore do not do business with the labs that make the glasses.  There are only a couple of those labs in the country.

I suggested that they call 4-5 local opticals and ask if they would fill an RX for bioptic telescopic glasses.  A couple days later the husband left me a message to go ahead and order the glasses.

When they came to receive the bioptics I asked the man about his phone calls.  He'd called 5 offices.  One asked him to bring in the RX so they could see it.  The others recommended that they contact an optometrist named Dr. Dave Armstrong.
